Sony’s eBook store – reading books on your PC is easy

August 2, 2009 · 2 Comments

I don’t own an Amazon Kindle. I don’t plan on it, either. However, I do want a reader that I can use on my Dell Mini. I think I’ve found the perfect combination… the Sony eBook Library (where you buy the books and keep up with them) + Adobe Digital Editions (eBook reader for the Mac or PC). And, should I ever buy the Sony eBook reader, my books will transfer to that device.

So far, I’ve seen a great many books that I want to get, and they range anywhere between $5 and $20. Not too bad.

I’m aware that Amazon has the exact same model, but there’s no PC/Mac reader that I’m aware of. I want to be able to read my books on my Mini. I suppose that’s exactly what Amazon doesn’t want.

The Kindle rocks man! Magenic gave us one for Christmas last year, and it is my favorite way to read books now. The ability to download any book on the fly from anywhere is pure gold.

I think that’s a cool feature, but I don’t like the keyboard. I also live in the middle of nowhere, so I don’t know if Whispernet works for my area. Besides, I can download books onto a memory stick (or SD card) and still have plenty to read. I guess it’s a matter of taste. :)
